why we went: We were parked at the Pennsylvania Dutch Country TT in Manheim and we have four kids who love chocolate.
when we went: Tuesday afternoon mid-April
what we found: A sweet chocolate smell wafting through the town of Hershey, PA and a nearly empty parking lot. Check out all the local businesses and street names along the way. Milton Hershey built this town.
how long we were there: An hour
what we thought: The ride/tour and scavenger hunt were enough for me and the kids. We walked in straight to the chocolate story ride where we had our picture taken before getting on. You can read about Milton Hershey if there’s a line.
We saw our picture after the ride, but didn’t buy it for $25, or whatever they wanted. After the ride everyone gets a little KitKat. As we walked toward the gift shop, an employee approached us to ask if we wanted to do a scavenger hunt for a prize. That took about 15 minutes and the kids liked it. They each got a marshmallow treat prize.
Then we walked around the store checking out all the sweet gooey treats, which the kids liked. We took pictures with giant candy bars. Said, no, you can’t get it. We let them pick out one inexpensive bag of candy and ended up spending $14 total. They loved it.
