Monday we drove over to Coronado. John and John got haircuts at the formerly $5 place in Point Loma, now $11. Tried to go to Pt. Loma Seafoods. Went to Sushi Freak for (son) John. Went to Balboa Park. Kids didn’t like it there. Had steak for dinner at the RV.
Yesterday was Jane’s birthday. It was a pretty good day. Went to the Donut Bar, which was right across the street from Drath Clifford, my first real job. Then a real breakfast at IHOP, at Jane’s request. Went back to Waterfront Park. I sent an email to a county commissioner saying how much we loved it. Back to the RV for swimming and laundry. Then Dave & Buster’s for games for Jane.
In the middle of the night last night, some drunk guy banged on our door. (son) John said he heard the guy yelling “help me” earlier. I was trying to use ear plugs because we’re parked right next to the 5, and thought I had heard something. This morning we found muddy fist prints on the side of the RV. Nice, eh? The kids were freaked out. I guess it was their first experience with a stupid drunk person.
Today we may hit a museum. We’ve been having fun, not seeing anything educational. Hitting different Starbucks locations. And I’ve decided I can write a book. I think I’ve figured out the formula. While following our trip, I can throw in anecdotes from my life to illustrate whatever I’m describing on our travels. I need to flesh all of this out, of course, but I think I could do it.
I’ve wondered how so many people could write books. Every passing semi-celebrity seems to have had a book deal in the past decade. I know they usually have writers help them get their shit on paper, but they must come up with some of the substance. I could do the same thing. I know plenty of writers. I can get the basics down, do my best with emotional description, then pass it to my writer peeps for their help. I wonder if Margret would be the right agent for me. She could probably point me to the right person.
I may meet up with Donna, Margret’s sister, while we’re here. She used to be into Reiki, but now does something called Access Bars. I’m curious. I would like to do reiki in the morning for John, or me. I haven’t done it regularly in a long time, if ever. I’d also like to get back to yoga. Ugh. Haven’t been doing anything. Besides eating all the things we used to love here.
