We parked in a Walmart parking lot for the first time last night. Newport, OR. It was much better than I expected it would be. There was a bit of noise early, but not too awful. The drive along the coast is very pretty. I’m glad we had time at the ocean in Nehalem so we didn’t feel we were missing anything by just driving along without stopping. Newport wasn’t very nice. It seemed a little uncared for, a sloppy tourist town.
We may get to California today, or we may stop before the border. I couldn’t find a campground I was sold on this morning when I took the kids to Starbucks. We charged our devices and had coffee and hot chocolates while John got the RV ready to leave. We had talked about leaving by 8am, but didn’t get out until 9:30am, or so. We’ve still made good time, though we probably won’t drive to Crescent City, CA like we discussed. No big deal for me, but John is set against driving too long during the day unless we plan to stay in the next place for a while. I don’t quite understand why.
It was getting chilly at night in Oregon, so I want to get south.
